New MadFLeX audio submission.

Posted by MadFLeX - December 30th, 2009

Hey guys.
Thanks for all the feedback on Contempt of Courtship, I'm glad a lot of you liked it. I just submitted Honorable to the audio portal. It's one of my favorite songs and it's the one we always close with. It's pretty different from the screaming or pop punk stuff in the other two, a lotta singing and more power ballady if that's your thing.
Thanks for stoppin in.=D

Just reviewed Honorable. Just like in Contempt of Courtship, you stand and deliver awesome music once again. Have yet to listen to the first one tho.

Some of your animations were pretty funny, like Karaoke Dan was really funny. I cracked up like an egg. Where'd you get the voice?

Oh and I was wondering. You seem to be in a successful band. I'm in a band as well. (I've finished the lyrics to the song I promised. How the instruments are going to figure in has yet to be worked out) We have a problem however. We aren't really productive when we try to jam together. The bassist has some serious motivational issues when it comes to practicing on his own time and, trust me, he needs it. But I have issues with time management. I hardly make the most of my time to practice. And our current drummer and another that had answered our "Drummer Wanted," ad are both out of our league and have other interests than just drums. It's the guitarist who's without flaw... just lacking in tactful speech :) I handle vocals, play a little trombone and some bass for the record. In regards to these problems, do you have any suggestions?

Thanks for your time! Rock on!

Mesmerized by the green eyes,

DarkX.

Oh yeah, forgot... who are in the band? Vocals? Guitar? Drums, WHAT?

Thanks for taking an interest and all the nice words! We're a four piece with vocals guitar bass and drums. Honestly, I think the most important thing about being in a band is having a common goal and common musical taste. The best advice I can give you is to keep the lines of communication open and try and prevent brickwall syndrome. That's when you guys are all so set in your opinions and negative feelings towards each other that you have no stamina to make good music. Aim for fun. Bands and people that take themselves too seriously are even miserable when they're happy.

Thanks for the advice! But I'm posting again because I made a mistake... I meant to ask who YOU were in the band. My bad >_<.

Thanks again!

i'm the singer.=) haha..

Do you write the lyrics? That just occurred to me that the first song I heard amazed me because of the complexity of the lyrics, among other things.

And do you know about how copyright law is affected on the audio portal? Today, I wrote down the lyrics to my very first original. When the guitarist (or leader of the band) comes up with something we agree on, I'm thinking about submitting it to the audio portal here. Are songs submitted here protected by copyright law? Can I submit something without worry of it getting stolen?

Didn't get to show the gang your advice like I planned... :( Oh well. When the going gets tough, the tough go to NG! XD I'm such a joker... Anyway, taste wise, we're fine. It's just that motivation and time management are the Achilles heel to me and the bassist. And the drummer has a bad habit of NOT staying on the drums. He plays guitar and sings a lot. Today, he announced he was gonna save up for a bass while playing the bassist's bass (the sad thing is, he didn't do half bad either >_<). And he flat up passed up two chances to drum the last two times we played out.

But I need to clarify this: today has demonstrated that me and the bassist have improved. And the drummer hasn't deteriorated at all (he threw some pretty wild fills today AND OUT OF NOWHERE no less). So things aren't terrible. But they could be much better. Aratic sounds like they're doing well. At least, that's what I'm picking up from the music I've heard. Any thoughts on these issues?
Thanks for the time and for putting up with my crap :)

Flinging fruity frags from form five far feet for fun,

DarkX.

PS: When they heard contempt of courtship today, they were genuinely impressed. But when I announced that your listed age said 31, the guitarist said "What the hell?!?!? He's thirty one and still goes on Newgrounds AND still sings for a PUNK BAND??? Wtf, move on and grow up! Old people don't play punk music, they do cooler stuff. And they don't go on NG for any other reason than to creep on 13 year old boys!!" (yeah, my guitarist CAN be a cold hearted prick sometimes. Excuse him) I tried. So, yeah, I wasn't happy with that. If you respond to this comment, leave a message for him would ya? I think you can say something in your defense. And I'd like that you would because you have much respect from me for your musical prestige (If you weren't in California, I'd try and see a live performance of you all, cuz you rock!).

Thanks!

Man, how I carry on... ;)

I do write the lyrics. As for the copyright stuff, I'm not too sure. I read some of the terms of service, and I'm pretty sure copyright stuff is done seperate from the site. It only gives NG the right to distribute it royalty free.

As for the other stuff... motivation is huge. If you're not motivated, there's really no point in doing it. I think you need to set more short term goals when you're starting out than long term goals. Are you playing shows? They're a HUGE motivation to write good music. When you are playing for all your friends, you're gonna want to give them something to gawk at. Plan it out. Practice is ALWAYS gonna suck sometimes, but you do it for the bigger rewards like shows and moving crowds.
As for your guitarist... it is what it is. He's probably 18, and I don't have the time or patience to pitch the fact that 31 isn't old. What cooler stuff should I be doing other than playing in a band and making animations? Sitting behind a desk pushing a pencil? I teach during the day. I graduated from college. I'm in shape and I'm happy. I travel. I'm in a relationship with a beautiful and amazing woman. Every song the band has written on this site is averaging over 9/10 on the reviews. I'm doin just fine, man, don't even worrr'bout it. Period.

Well! That about wraps that the heck up! "Sitting behind a desk pushing a pencil?" Lol.

Anyway, I'll tell them about the short term goal thing... and If I really need to, I can just contact a mod. in regards to copyright law and how that should be handled.

Thanks again. For all that you've done, I should buy you something. How else can I repay good music, helpful advise and and a little honesty?

Daring dumb dodos to drench Demon Darrel's digerido's in doo doo,

DarkX.
